Alfredo Palmieri was born in Rome on July 24, 1877.

In his youth he was one of Lazio's star athletes, especially in Javelin throwing.

He then became a director and also assisted Guido Baccani with the technical side of the football section.

In 1912 he was elected vice-president of Società Podistica Lazio (later to become Società Sportiva).

In 1920 he was sporting director and again from 1929 to 1941. He was one of the first to realise legendary keeper Ezio Sclavi's potential and pushed for him to play.

He was one of the five members who in 1923 started planning and gathering funds for the restructuring of the Rondinella sports area.

In these years apart from being actively involved with Lazio he was also busy with the Italian Athletics Federation.

On June 14 1932, he became Lazio's 8th president. The previous president, Remo Zenobi, had resigned after the "Brasilazio" phase had brought disappointing results. Lazio had just finished 13th. The Lazio Board of Governors chose Palmieri to take charge.

The new manager was Austrian Karl Stürmer who replaced Amilcar Barbuy who returned to Brazil.

In the summer the main signings were defender Armando Bertagni (Salernitana), midfielder Pietro Buscaglia (GC Vigevanesi) plus forwards Antonio Bisigato (Bari), Leonizio Fantoni (Palestra Italia and brother of Joāo) and the return of Piero Pastore (Milan).

Leaving Lazio in this period were defender Orlando Tognotti (Terni), midfielders Mario Malatesta (Milan) and Aldo Spivach (Padova) plus forwards Carlo Cevenini V (Pisa) and Brazilian André Emanuel Tedesco (Corinthians).

Palmieri however was only president until October when Remo Zenobi who had been in charge since 1929 decided to return.

Lazio in the early part of the season won 2, drew 2 and lost 2. The two wins however were 2-1 away to Inter and 2-1 in the derby. Lazio then finished 10th.

Palmieri died on May 31, 1951. He will be remembered as Lazio’s 8th president, albeit briefly but especially as someone who dedicated his life to sport, athletics and football and Lazio in particular.
