Mario Tonali was born on September 12, 1910, in Rome.
He started playing football for Virtus Spoleto and arrived at Lazio in 1930. For the first two years he played in the reserves team, but starting from 1932 he became part of the main squad.
He played another two years with 33 appearances.
In 1934 he signed for Pisa and stayed for seven years becoming one of the most important players as well as captain.
In 1941 he retired from football after 205 appearances for the Tuscan Nerazzurri. He then started playing again in the war years with Italia Libera, then for Civita Castellana in 1946-47 and Virtus Spoleto the following season.
He died in 1975.
