At the end of the season the Biancocelesti had to play the French-Italian Friendship Cup. This tournament took place between a number of Italian and French teams and in the first three years each of the participants played each other over two legs. The final result was established by the number of points each nation collected. Five teams participated in the first edition, 16 in the second (including Lazio) and 10 in the third.

In the 1960 tournament, Lazio were paired with Sedan.

The match

The Biancocelesti started well and almost immediately Franco Carradori almost immediately shaved the post on a free kick.  In the 3rd minute Louis Lemosson in trying to anticipate Clemente Mattei almost put the ball in his own net and soon after a Claude Brény shot was easily parried by Bob Lovati. In the 12th minute, Lazio scored. Claudio Bizzarri crossed into the box and Mattei volleyed the ball in.

Ten minutes later a splendid assist from Ugo Pozzan for Carradori who unmarked in front of the goalkeeper made no mistake. Lazio 2 Sedan 0. But a minute later the French reduced the deficit thanks to Brény who anticipated Lovati on a Jacques Stamm cross.

In the interval manager Fulvio Bernardini substituted Oliviero Visentin with Sandro Joan. Sedan played well but all the volume of play did not translate into anything concrete for Lazio who had a number of chances to make it three. Shots by Joan and Paolo Carosi missed the target and Mattei, all alone in front of the keeper, was anticipated by the latter. In the 89th minute Bizzarri received the ball from Pozzan and scored Lazio’s third of the day.

Good win for the Biancocelesti.
