The team

Marco Baroni finally had Mario Gila fit and as a consequence played him instead of Patric. Also confirmed was Gustav Isaksen following the good second half in the previous game against Milan. The most important thing was not to concede an early goal as Lazio had done in the past three games.

First half

The Biancocelesti started the game very strongly and with good pace clearly with the objective of scoring early instead of conceding early. And in the fifth minute they went ahead. Mattia Zaccagni on the left sent a long pass to Boulaye Dia who controlled the ball, reached the limit of the penalty area and let off a clinical low shot that beat Lorenzo Montipò.

Finally Lazio were ahead rather than the opposition this season, but alas it did not last. In the 7th minute Grigoris Kastanos sent a good ball straight down the middle of the pitch that surprised Alessio Romagnoli and Gila who were attempting to put Casper Tengstedt in off side without the collaboration of Nuno Tavares, the Dane ran unmarked towards Ivan Provedel and beat him.

Fourth game, fourth early goal conceded.

The Biancocelesti tried to re-organise and in the 16th minute were dangerous with a brilliant shot from Nicolò Rovella from 30 metres but Montipò made an exceptional save. In the 19th minute Darko Lazovic tried to surprise Provedel directly from a corner kick, but the Lazio keeper managed to slap the ball away.

A minute later Zaccagni took a corner, ball in the middle of the box, Taty Castellanos anticipated Diego Coppola and scored.

Lazio tried to control the game from then on but Verona were always potentially dangerous especially since the Biancocelesti were often caught on the counter attack. Hellas however were unable to create any big chances.

Second half

In the 50th minute an Isaksen attempt went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute Dia from outside the box tried a shot, Montipò parried, in came Tavares on the left but his shot went straight at the keeper who managed to parry.

In the 53rd minute Daniel Mosquera came in for Kastanos and in the 66th Davide Faraoni for Lazovic and Faride Alidou for Abdou Harroui. Gaetano Castrovilli and Loum Tchaouna substituted Castellanos and Isaksen. The Frenchman immediately showed his potential in the 68th minute with a shot that went only slightly high. He tried again in the 74th but Montipò parried into corner. With ten minutes to go, Verona created a chance when Jackson Tchatchoua found himself in the box ready for the volley, but Manuel Lazzari heroically threw himself towards the ball and stopped the potential threat deflecting it with his body.

Lazio were in slight difficulty in central midfield so in came Matias Vecino for Rovella in the 81st minute.

In the 83rd minute Lazio should have scored. Dia raced towards the Verona goal and in front of the keeper passed to Zaccagni who got to the ball slightly too late and kicked it wide.

Final substitutions: Adam Marusic and Tijani Noslin for Lazzari and Zaccagni, Amin Sarr and Alphadjo Cissè for Flavius Daniliuc and Dani Silva.

But nothing changed. Second win of the season for Lazio, second consecutive game with Dia and Taty scoring.
