Franjo Prce

Franjo Prce was born in Čapljina (Bosnia-Herzegovina) on January 7 1996. He soon moved to Croatia and is of Croatian nationality.

His first club as a kid was Omladinac Vranjic. At 12 he moved to Hajduk Split where he stayed until 16 in 2014.

 

In 2014 he joined Lazio. He played with the youth teams and was sometimes added to the first team squad.

 

In January 2016 he was loaned to Salernitana in Serie B but never made any appearances. His teammates included Lazio connections Chris Oikonomidis (2014-16, 2017-18), Thomas Strakosha (2013-15, 2016-2022) plus Mamadou Tounkara and Alessandro Tuia from Lazio's youth academy.

 

In 2016-17 he was back at Lazio. The manager was Simone Inzaghi. Prce made his debut on October 23 in a 2-2 draw with Torino, it would be his only appearance. Lazio finished 5th (EL) and were beaten finalists in the Coppa Italia (Juventus 0-2).

 

In January 2017 he moved to Brescia on loan in Serie B. The manager was first former Lazio player Cristian Brocchi and then Luigi Cagni. Prce played 7 league games and the Rondinelle (Swallows) finished 14th. One of his teammates was former Lazio captain Stefano Mauri (2006-16).

 

In 2017-18 Prce returned to Lazio. He however made no appearances before leaving in January on loan again. He had time nevertheless to see Lazio win the Supercoppa in August defeating Juventus 3-2.

 

In January 2018 he went back to Croatia and played six months for NK Istria 1961. He played 16 league games and the "Verudeži” finished 9th.

 

His contract with Lazio had now expired and his next team was Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus. In the 2018-19 season he played 17 league games with 1 goal and the "Trifylli" (Three leafed Clovers) finished 6th.

 

Prce's career then took him to Ukraine briefly (Karpaty), back to Croatia (Varaždin-8 games, Slaven Belupo-20 games with 1 goal), India (East Bengal-15 games with 1 goal), Slovenia for two seasons (Koper-32 games with 1 goal) and he is currently in Bulgaria with Spartak Varna on the Black Sea.

 

From 2012 to 2017 he went through all the Croatia national youth teams; U16s (7 games), U17s (23 games, 1 goal), U18s (3 games), U19s (7 games) and U21s (1 game). He never made it to the Croatian full international squad.

 

Prce is a central defender. He had the physique du rôle (1.85 and 79 kilos) but never made it at top level. He has however played in many different countries, seven, and lived in diverse cultural situations.

 

At Lazio he arrived young, at 16, but never fulfilled the expectations the Biancocelesti had for him. He made only one league appearance.
