Ettore Mendicino was born in Milan on February 11, 1990.
He was a product of the Lazio youth sector and a very highly rated forward in his youth. He debuted in Serie A on February 8, 2009, in an away game in Florence. He made four appearances that season.
In 2009 he was loaned to Crotone and this was the start of a number of annual loans to clubs of Serie B and C. After Crotone came Ascoli, then six months in Gubbio, six in Taranto and another half a season at Como. In 2013 he was loaned out again to Salernitana and he stayed two years winning a Serie C Coppa Italia. He did well at Salerno, scoring 14 goals in 54 appearances.
In 2015 he signed for Robur Siena but after six months he was loaned to Arezzo. He came back to Tuscany and played another half season before signing for Cosenza. In January 2018 he moved to Monza in the third tier and after another six months signed for Monopoli. He managed to stay a whole season but in January 2020 he was loaned to Rimini for another six months. In the following seasons he played for Paganese, Sambenedettese and Ravenna.
At this point he stopped playing. He went back to study and produced a podcast series “Fuori dal Podio” (away from the podium) where he interviews people that used to be sport professionals but somehow along the line changed their plans.
Mendicino has also one cap for Italy’s Under-21.
Ettore Medicino was an interesting player but was not lucky in that he was hardly ever allowed to settle down for more than one year in a single club. Difficult to find consistency in this way.
