The team

With Mattia Zaccagni still fighting flu and Nicolò Rovella left in Rome as precaution, manager Marco Baroni decided to play Matias Vecino at midfield, take advantage of Pedro's incredible moment of form and rest Boulaye Dia.

First half

Nothing happened in the first twenty minutes. Lazio tried to attack but Como defended well and despite never being dangerous they made the Biancocelesti run. The stalemate was broken by Taty Castellanos who in the 20th minute tried a shot from outside the box, deflection off a defender, Emil Audero parried into corner.

The change came in the 24th minute. Gustav Isaksen, on the right in the area, crossed towards the far post, Castellanos headed the ball towards the centre, Alberto Dossena tried to chest it away but his arm got in the way. Penalty after a VAR consultation. Castellanos, who had missed a spot kick against Empoli, this time made no mistake and Lazio were ahead.

A few minutes later Nuno Tavares on the left, ball inside the box to Pedro completely unmarked, the Spaniard tried a shot which went under Audero and the Biancocelesti made it two. Poor keeping here by the Indonesian-born Italian goalkeeper.

The Lazio one-two floored Como who had trouble getting themselves organized for an offensive. Their only attempt in the first 45 minutes was in the 42nd minute when Nicolas Paz took a corner, Dossena headed the ball towards Ivan Provedel who had to come out and push the ball away from a possible Edoardo Goldaniga tap in.

Second half

In the interval Baroni took off Tijani Noslin and put in Dia to have more play in midfield. Pedro was moved to the left wing. Como too made a substitution: Lucas Da Cunha for Alieu Fadera.

Como now more aggressive and in the 53rd minute they reduced the deficit. A deflected ball in the box reached Luca Mazzitelli who controlled it and with a spectacular acrobatic shot from an impossible angle beat Provedel.

The Lakeside time now believed in a comeback and pressed Lazio even more but in the 62nd minute, after a so-called professional foul, Matthias Braunoder was booked for a second time and went to take an early shower. Two minutes later, Nuno Tavares also got a second yellow and he too was sent off. To note that neither two of the yellow cards shown to the Portuguese even looked like fouls. He would not be playing on Monday against Cagliari.

Baroni at this point sent in Luca Pellegrini for Isaksen.

In the 71st minute Castellanos on a free kick forced Audero to parry into corner. Pedro took it, cross into the box, Dia headed the ball towards the far post, in came Patric, Como 1 Lazio 3.

Four more substitutions: Yannik Engelhardt and Alberto Cerri for Gabriel Strefezza and Alberto Moreno for Como, Loum Tchaouna and Samuel Gigot for Pedro and Adam Marusic for Lazio.

In the 80th minute Tchaouna passed the ball back to Patric who slipped, Patrick Cutrone took advantage and advanced. Low cross for Cerri who kicked the ball wide from a favourable position. One minute later Tchaouna volleyed towards Dia, ball to Castellanos who beat the offside trap and in front of Audero calmly deposited the ball in the net for his brace.

Three more substitutions: Alessandro Gabrielloni and Federico Barba for Cutrone and Mazzitelli for Como, Manuel Lazzari for Patric for the Biancocelesti.

The match was ending but in the fifth minute of injury time, Lazio went on the counter attack. Lazzari to Tchaouna who made no mistake, Como 1 Lazio 5.

Great win by Lazio who had not scored five goals away from home since July 2020 against Verona.
