Bologna Lazio 5-0

As many could predict, Lazio collapsed in Bologna

There is not much to say about this game. Lazio had arrived in Bologna after playing two matches a week for the past month, with limited turnover due to numerous injuries and players who were physically not up to scratch. Nicolò Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi were in dire shape and one could see this right from the word go. It would have been important not to concede a goal early on but this is what happened in the 16th minute when Jens Odgaard took the opportunity of a Mario Gila marking error to put Bologna ahead. Lazio tried to react but did not have the physicality to contrast an opponent that was pressing them at great speed and running much faster. Early in the second half Riccardo Orsolini made it two and a minute later a Guendouzi error allowed Dan Ndoye to score the 3-0. Mattia Zaccagni hit the woodwork shortly after but then Bologna scored two more goals with Santiago Castro and Giovanni Fabbian.

One has to point out that if some players are not fit, perhaps it would be a good idea to let them rest and play others. It was pointless to play Gustav Isaksen and Rovella from the start, one could see that they could never have put in a decent performance. Marco Baroni had been so good in rotating the players in the autumn, why stop now?

Better to forget this game.
